This past Monday evening Kory Price of Grocery Outlet made my dreams of being a Grocery Cashier come true….growing up out in the country (yes I was country when country wasn’t cool) I so looked forward to taking our weekly trip to town to shop. I loved going up and down the aisles of the grocery store looking at all the displays, really feeling important when my mom let me roll the cart! But the best part of the visit was watching our favorite cashier – her smile was contagious and just like “Cheers” she always knew your name. Her hair and nails looked like she had just left the salon and a lipstick in a tone that matched the starlets on the magazines that surrounded her perfectly arranged cash register containing those most sought after “green” stamps (yes I am old).
Well, not only did Kory make my dreams come true, he donated some serious cash (5% of all items sold) to SnowCap by engaging a couple other “celebrity cashiers and there baggers” (yes these were real celebrities) – Mayor Shane Bemis and his bagger Pat Connaughton of the Portland Trailblazers, Larry Schwartz aka Elvis, Branch Manager of Riverview Community Bank and his bagger Jim Thurber, Reality TV Star of Discovery Channel’s Gold Rush.
My honey, Bob Avila and I competed against these two other teams for a beautiful trophy to see who could sell the most items in two hours….we worked hard but we were outclassed by our Mayor and his star athletic partner but who loses when donations are made to SnowCap? And my dream of being a cashier came true. Thank you to Kory Price and Grocery Outlet!!
