For many years my mom always made my birthday special, I was one lucky kid!!! Always a special day for me as a young person and then into my 20’s, 30’s and 40’s my mom never missed a birthday. Yes, I was spoiled! There was always a card, a gift in the mail, and a phone call when we couldn’t be together. Then my mom passed and by this time my dear husband Bob takes over and he has never missed an opportunity to make my birthday a great occasion. A party or a trip, taking me somewhere, somewhere he knows I would love.
One of those most special trips was to New York. My birthday actually fell on Easter and we went to St. Patrick’s Cathedral for Easter Services performed by Cardinal Timothy Dolan. Then we were able to be a part of the Easter Parade on Fifth Avenue. It was really special and for sure, a birthday I shall never forget.
That brings me to birthday 2020…. Well, you know there will be no trip, no party. There will be no dining out, there may not even be something wrapped as so many local stores are closed. So, I was ready to accept my fate. Then a miracle happened! It came in a Ford Truck (good things always come in a Ford). A delivery to my house of the most precious gift ever. It was brought by our friend on behalf of he and his wife, two great local business people, the owners of White’s Meats. They say great things come in small boxes? Well, that is not the case! Great things come in big boxes-a big box of toilet paper may be the most memorable of gifts! And in 2020 more valuable than something from that fancy Tiffany Store in New York City…
Bob is really going to have to step it up next year to beat this! Thank you, Russ and Robin!
